Bioprocess Engineer 

Bioprocess Engineer (12 month FTC)

Salary: £33,000 - £37,000 

Location: Corsham Science Park 

 

Cellular Agriculture Ltd produces technology that aims to make cultivated meat a widely available, sustainable, ethical, affordable protein alternative.

The company integrates activities across a Research and Development Department responsible for innovating, an Engineering Department that delivers scaled iterations of bioreactors and bioprocess, and the Operations Department responsible for ensuring the company runs smoothly. These Departments work seamlessly together towards delivering technology that allows a sustainable alternative protein to diversify food stuffs for food security across the world.

What this role entails 

  • Working on a grant-funded project aimed at expanding our technology stack using novel materials within conventional bioprocess units

  • Designing and testing bioprocesses in collaboration with external project partners

  • Utilise your expertise to creatively inform bioprocess design and operation objectives

Objectives 

  • Development of robust protocols for upscaling muscle cell tissue production

  • Characterising influential process parameters to optimise cell culture

 

Selection Criteria 

1. Experience  

Masters-level qualification or equivalent experience in process/(bio)chemical engineering, biochemistry, or biology 

Proven industrial experience 

2. Delivering for an organisation 

Has developed and validated cell culture processes at small to medium scale

3. Team working 

Demonstrable ability to work with a diverse range of people, working towards a common goal in a multi-disciplinary environment.  

4. Expertise 

  • Essential: Masters level or equivalent in biological sciences, biochemistry or bioprocess engineering

  • Preferable: Upstream bioprocessing, mammalian cell culture or fermentation process experience
